When I first got Mama Cass, it didn't take long before I realized that her tank/terrarium was ideal. I starting looking around, and I found that there were very few tanks that were truely meant for tree frogs. Then need something that's far taller than then it is wide or deep. So I started to build my own. With a little reading and trial and error I was able to construct this beauty. It's 36" high, 20" wide, and 20" deep. Made of 1/8" glass, with a nice oak wood frame -- and what's more, the whole front door opens.

I loaded it all up with lots of the goodies that I bougt from various retailers and put her inside. Here's what it looked like.

After a week or two I found that she wasn't getting enough light. That she was sneaking into places she wasn't supposed to get to. So it was back to the researching. I found a far more suitable lighting unit, but even better, I found a bit of info on building your own background/backdrop -- I fell in love. The idea is fairly simple. Create a cardboard box version of your terrarium, arrange your drift wood, vines, branches inside. Then I used expanding foam -- Great Stuff ™ to be specific. Slowly filled in all the gaps and what not. Then carefully shapping it with knife. After that the whole background is coated in Black Silicone which is then covered with Exo-Terra® Jungle Earth soil. The end result was this unit here!

Once the above unit was finished and cured, it slides into terrarium carefully. Arrange plants, waterfall, extra vines, setup light unit and here it is! In all it's glory! (PS: I still have to wait to pick up the proper pebbles that will go in the lower right -- water will then fill in the area on top of that)

Here are a few close-up shots the inside -- see how the branches are actuall part of the soil background?

This is what her first tank looked like. Was fairly small, but I made the best home for her I could out of it.
